Clubs

Art Club is a safe space for students to come after school and explore their creativity further. We will be completing student-led projects of their choice. We may also be collaborating with other clubs or activities on campus. Students do not have to come to all meetings, they are welcome to come to any that they can! Art Club meets on Tuesdays after school from 2:30-3:30pm in room D109.

Are you ready to embark on an exciting journey of strategy, tactics, and intellect? Look no further than Cocopah’s Chess Club! Whether you're a seasoned chess grandmaster or a complete novice, our club welcomes students of all skill levels to join in the fun, camaraderie, and mental challenge that chess has to offer. Our Chess Club is dedicated to promoting the ancient and intellectually stimulating game of chess among middle school students. We meet Wednesdays in room B112 from 2:30-3:30 to engage in friendly yet competitive matches, learn and discuss chess strategies, and foster a sense of sportsmanship among our members.

Coding Club is a student-run club where members can meet to work on coding projects and show their ideas. Membership is a drop-in method with no commitment pressure. Coding Club meets on Mondays after school from 2:30-3:30pm in room B210.

This club is for the enjoyment of any craft that you like to practice independently—needlework, hand embroidery, knitting, crochet, amigurumi, or any other idea you might want to explore with guidance from your peers, or the teacher.  Bring your own materials or come and explore and get ideas! Craft Club meets Tuesdays after school from 2:30 - 3:30 pm in room C101.

GSA is a club for LGBTQ+ students and friends. GSA is a welcoming place where students work to create safe spaces, talk about various school issues, discuss current events, literature and other media, and develop support networks. Everyone is welcome, no commitment necessary. GSA meets on Wednesdays after school from 2:30-3:30pm in room C103.

Students in need of a quiet place to complete assignments after school may join Homework Haven, from 2:20-3:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday in C201 and C202.  NJHS students are available for one-on-one assistance. Early release days are excluded.

National Junior Honor Society is an academic service organization. Students are invited to join at the end of 7th grade based on scholarship, leadership, citizenship, character, and service. Throughout the year, we undertake many service projects to help our campus, the community, and the world.

Read to Lead is a student-run club where members meet to discuss books and share what they are reading. Share your next great read!  Read to Lead meets every other Wednesday after school from 2:30-3:30pm in Cocopah Media Center.

First Lego League is a competitive club where club members build and code robots and research and develop a project to compete in the First Lego League competition in December.  Our robotics club meets Fridays in the fall from 2:30-4:00. There is a charge for this club to cover the costs of competition in the First Lego League.

The spring semester of Robotics & 3D Printing Club is open to all students who wish to learn about Lego and other types of robots and how to build and code them. Robotics & 3D Printing Club meets on Fridays after school from 2:30-3:30pm in room B107, from January to April.

Cocopah Middle School’s Student Council gives students the opportunity to represent our school on and off campus, engaging in social, educational and community service activities. Taking into consideration the pillars of character, the organization, in partnership with the administration, is involved in the overall goal of creating a safe and enjoyable campus for the entire student body.

Cocopah Theater Club is a student-run club that provides an after-school opportunity for students to participate in supervised creative dramatic activities. Students share in different aspects of theatre, including improvisational skits, games, script writing, and performing scenes. The Theater Club also supports school musicals and plays through fundraisers and other activities. The club meets on Thursdays after school from 2:30-3:30pm in room C200.
